Gay Marriage and The Politics of Distraction
After all the civil rights aspect of a civil partnership had been established Cameron ever the consummate PR professional seized on this issue of Gay Marriage. It has provided a useful topic of distraction with the real crisis in the economy. He interchangeably uses the words 'deficit' and 'debt'
the way he does 'wedding' and 'marriage'. For secular people in this country marriage has essentially become a civil partnership. For Christians however it is a sacrament. It is amidst this fundamental confusion that Cameron has created a 'semantic separation' that need not exist for the reasons outlined below. The whole legislation has highlighted some hypocrisy in the Church's position and should be
a further argument for separation of Church and State as you can lose your moral authority if you are part of the unelected legislative establishment.
Amidst all this hullabaloo the central message of the Gospel seems to have been drowned
out. Namely;

"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbour as yourself.'"

I believe that the Gospels are God's love letter to humanity. In an effort to share this I have put together a 'pink letter bible' where the most relevant scripture with regards to homosexuality is highlighted in pink. This is an attempt to at once be supportive of the LGBT community who are not divorced from the human condition and at the same time be true to the word of God. 
I will add more to the passages below but please read the Gospels in their entirety. 
Most of the scripture pertaining to homosexuality are found in the epistles of St. Paul. 
Jesus does however refer explicitly to the topic in the Gospel of Matthew below.

19 When Jesus had finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went into the region of Judea to the other side of the Jordan. Large crowds followed him, and he healed them there.
Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, ‘Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?’
‘Haven’t you read,’ he replied, ‘that at the beginning the Creator “made them male and female,”[a] and said, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh”[b]? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.’
‘Why then,’ they asked, ‘did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?’
Jesus replied, ‘Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.’
10 The disciples said to him, ‘If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry.’
11 Jesus replied, ‘Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. 12 For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others – and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.’
13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.

If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the Lord’s people? Or do you not know that the Lord’s people will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, do you ask for a ruling from those whose way of life is scorned in the church? I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers? But instead, one brother takes another to court – and this in front of unbelievers!
The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters. Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. 18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies.
